REPORT ILLEGAL FISHING

The Sussex IFCA has a risk based and intelligence led approach to its enforcement work. We actively encourage the reporting of suspected illegal fishing. This page provides you with options on how you can report to us.

If you suspect someone is fishing illegally, do not approach them. You can report what you have seen to us either by calling our office on  (01273) 454407 , email us at  admin@sussex-ifca.gov.uk , talking to one of our officers on the ground, or completing and submitting the intelligence gathering form below.

WHAT TO REPORT

However you choose to report an incident to us, it helps if you give us detail. Please include a description of what you saw, preferably including the following:

  • Date and time of the incident
  • Location
  • Nature of the activity
  • Observed activity continuing or finished
  • Activity witnessed by you or third party?
  • Number of individuals involved
  • Vehicle / Vessel description and/or registration numbers
  • Type of fishing activity if known

SUBMITTED A REPORT?

If you provide your name and contact details, an Officer may contact you for further information.

All information will be treated in strict confidence.

While fisheries & conservation officers may not always be able to immediately respond, the information you provide helps us to catch irresponsible fishers and to prevent illegal fishing. The information helps us to target our enforcement efforts, and has a major impact on stopping illegal fishing.

INTELLIGENCE GATHERING FORM

The form below allows you to report incidents anonymously as you are not required to provide your name or contact details. You can provide these details if you wish, as Officers may then contact you to ask further questions about the incident.
